It looks like the popular show might end after the second part of the fifth season.

Paramount+ certainly hit the big leagues with the premiere of Yellowstone, a universally relatable story about a ranching family patriarch, played by Kevin Costner, struggling to ensure the survival of his land and his family.

Fans adored the show from the first episode, praising writer Taylor Sheridan for creating complex, interesting characters rather than resorting to the caricature approach to character development often employed by other TV writers today. However, it seems that the multitude of projects Sheridan is currently juggling might be negatively impacting the show that started it all.

According to sources from the New York Post, the second part of Season 5, which went on hiatus in January and has yet to return, could be the show's last, as both Costner and Sheridan have reportedly been embroiled in a heated dispute.

Fans were shocked to discover that not only will the second part of Season 5 not be released this summer, but it hasn't been filmed at all, with both parties blaming each other for derailing production.

While some sources claim that Costner caused the filming to be put on hold when it was revealed that he had only agreed to work for a week to shoot the second part of the season, others argue that Sheridan was responsible for the delay. They note that Costner had agreed to shoot for a month or so this winter, but the scripts simply weren't ready.

It seems that two big egos are clashing behind the scenes, but the fans are the ones suffering from the fallout.

It appears that Costner has finally had enough of the showrunner's antics and is seeking a way out of Yellowstone after the end of Season 5. Of course, losing its biggest star is likely a death sentence for the show, but some fans believe Yellowstone could still flourish even if John Dutton were killed off. The idea of watching his children fight for power after his death certainly sounds quite enticing.
