Nicholas Galitzine teases a bold new vision for Masters of the Universe, revealing a reimagined He-Man that breaks from past portrayals. Expect a sharper creative direction and surprises set to supercharge the long-awaited adaptation.

I finally have a clearer picture of what the new Masters of the Universe is trying to be, thanks to Nicholas Galitzine. He just opened up about his take on He-Man and the overall vibe of the movie, and it sounds less muscle-flexing caricature, more human (without skimping on the big toy-box spectacle).

So, what kind of He-Man are we getting?

Galitzine told Screen Rant that director Travis Knight and the team are steering the character into the present day rather than just replaying the 80s greatest hits.

'I think there is a modernity to him that is really interesting. It feels like who he is as a person is a handshake between what traditional masculinity and femininity are.'

Translation: this He-Man isn’t just a walking bicep. Galitzine also kept referring to Adam — as in Prince Adam, He-Man’s alter ego — and said he can’t wait for audiences to meet this version.

Why Galitzine signed on

He says the script felt different from the usual genre fare — surprisingly human and genuinely funny, which are the two things he looks for. He avoided plot specifics (of course), but the pitch is clear: make a character piece inside a big adventure movie, not the other way around.

Big scale, not hollow

He did tease size: according to him, the action and set pieces are 'incredible.' But he kept hammering the point that there’s an actual story with a heartbeat under all the spectacle — and that was a non-negotiable for him.

Travis Knight is directing the live-action reboot, and Galitzine will have plenty of star power around him:
