It looks like the hit show is here to stay.

When Netflix announced plans to adapt the iconic Japanese manga One Piece into a live-action show in 2021, fans of the original were pretty skeptical about the project's success. However, the naysayers were proven wrong the moment the show arrived on the platform early last week, as millions of viewers were immediately attracted to the story of wannabe pirate Luffy assembling his dream team.

Moreover, the eight-episode season seems destined to break some records, and it looks like Netflix won't hesitate to renew One Piece for a second season.

Truth be told, it's pretty wild that the streaming giant hasn't already announced the renewal for One Piece, as the entire Internet is talking about the show and praising Netflix for finally nailing an adaptation of a beloved original property.

Ratings are Through the Roof

Considering that the show was released less than a week ago, it's quite impressive that One Piece has already received almost 50 thousand ratings on IMDb, and most of them are positive. While many people were worried that fans of the original manga and anime would nitpick the show and make sure that its ratings are low, it looks like even longtime followers of One Piece loved the remake to bits.

As of now, the live-action One Piece (OPLA) is sitting on a great 8.5 rating, which is a huge win for such a young series. Of course, fans would like to see the rating go up to 9, as this would ensure the renewal for the second season.

'One of my friends who hasn't seen anime watched OPLA, and he liked it so much… I didn't think I would watch it because I thought they would screw OP up for me but gave it a shot… Two episodes in and I am already in love with it… Nice pacing and kept it real,' one fan said.

Even though Netflix' execs are yet to officially confirm the show's renewal for Season 2, it looks like this is already a done deal, given the great ratings the first season generated.
