Mike Fans Just Got Another Reason to Worry About Stranger Things Season 5
The beloved character may die sooner than expected.
Since 2016, Netflix's Stranger Things has been one of the most popular shows on the air, thanks to the great chemistry between its main teenage characters, with Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, and Finn Wolfhard receiving the most praise among the child actors.
However, a lot of time has passed since the show's stellar first season, and many viewers feel that Wolfhard's Mike has played a much less prominent role in recent installments, with other characters replacing him as the main heroes of the story. But can this be reversed in the upcoming Season 5, which will be the series' last, and are fans willing to sacrifice Mike to make him the main character again?
In the final episode of Season 4, Eleven and her friends were able to banish Vecna to the Upside Down, but the dreaded villain wasn't defeated for good and is sure to return in the upcoming season to torment the teens once again. However, fans are sure that Vecna will choose another character to ruin, and they have a pretty good idea who that character will be.
Mike could be killed first
Considering that Mike has been one of the central characters of Stranger Things since the beginning, and has thwarted Vecna's plans on more than one occasion, it's only natural that the villain would try to kill him first. Some fans are sure that Mike's days are numbered.
'He's gotta be on Vecna's radar, right? Mike has been a foil in his plans for quite a while now, and Vecna has to take action towards the Paladin. Add that Nancy revealed that Mike was in her vision of her family dying. It would be interesting to see how Mike can maneuver around whatever Vecna is gonna throw at him,' a fan commented on Reddit.
Fans want to see Mike back in the spotlight
Given that Mike was sidelined last season in favor of other characters, people feel that the Duffer brothers may actually make the boy the first victim of Vecna in order to redeem that situation. They say putting Mike back in the spotlight is essential for the show's narrative to move forward.
'As a fellow Mike fan, I really want him to get some much-deserved focus in S5. Given that the hate for Mike was at an all-time high after S4, I think it's time the Duffers made Mike's good qualities front and center so the people that don't love Mike can see what they've been missing out on,' another fan noted.
