The fourth and final season of HBO's hit black comedy-drama Barry is set to feature flashbacks that introduce viewers to the young Barry Berkman/Block will help us understand a bit more about him.

The final season opens with the eponymous protagonist incarcerated and wondering how he might escape. Although, in truth, it's himself he's running from. But do we really know why? He's clearly a complex character, but what motivates him? What were his formative years like?

Up until the end of season 3, of course, viewers only ever knew Barry as a depressed former marine now operating as a hitman. And this delve into his past may help explain how the Barry we meet when he arrives in LA to carry out a contract killing on Ryan Madison at the start of season 1, came to end up that way.

And the actor playing the young Barry is Reece Levine.

Reece is no stranger to acting, as his Instagram feed shows. He's already appeared on stage in James and the Giant Peach, Beauty and the Beast, Kinky Boots, School of Rock and The Secret Garden. And he's even had his home movie performance of the Phantom endorsed by none other than Andrew Lloyd Webber!

He's previously appeared on TV too, with IMDB crediting him with roles in You People and Side Hustle.

Levine's talent agency posted back in September 2022 that he had been booked 'on a hit show we can't say yet'.

We now know that the show was the final season of Barry. Reese's Instagram page, though, is not all about his time in major shows. There are pictures of him performing in much smaller theatres or dressing up in his younger years.

There's also a cheeky pic of him 'hanging with Hamilton' in 2019.

With such great connections within the industry already, it seems safe to assume that Reese Levine has a long and illustrious career ahead of him whether he chooses to stick to TV, return to the stage, or do both. And if his early appearances in season 4 of Barry are anything to go by, it may not be long before his talent agency are fielding calls from the great and good of Hollywood or one of the major streaming networks.
