The Scarlet Witch teases a game-changer: "There's nothing else really like it."

Elizabeth Olsen is not done with Wanda. Superhero fatigue? Sure, maybe. But if Marvel calls, she sounds ready to throw the red magic back on and wreck a few timelines.

Where she said it

The WandaVision star hit the 2025 Hamptons International Film Festival for an onstage chat at the festival's 'A Conversation With...' event (via People) and made it pretty clear she still has a soft spot for Scarlet Witch. In her words:

These movies aren't for critics, these movies are for fans.

That was her larger point: whatever the ups and downs have been since WandaVision, she feels the MCU runs on fan energy, and that's who she's playing for.

Olsen on Wanda: unfinished business

Olsen said she loves the character and wants to come back to her. Over the last five years, she feels like she got to push Wanda way further than she ever expected, and she still has comic-book story threads she'd love to tackle — the kind fans are already hungry for.

Fun aside: she also recently recorded voice work for the animated Marvel Zombies, but admitted she can't remember much about doing it. That is some elite Marvel NDA muscle memory at work.

Critics vs fans, and why the MCU feels like a long-running show

She doubled down on the fan-first angle, saying the material has only gotten richer from her perspective and she's enjoyed the ride. She also compared the MCU to a TV series actors return to season after season — the same way long-running shows become a little family. Yes, the culture can get exhausted with big franchises, but there's a consistency she genuinely likes. Also, job security is nice. Relatable.

About Avengers: Doomsday and why she's not on that roster (for now)

After the new Avengers: Doomsday cast list dropped, Olsen's name wasn't on it. That tracks with what she's saying: she's open, but waiting on the call. For context, this one brings the Russo Brothers back to Marvel and crams a lot of toys into the box:

  • Original Avengers
  • New Avengers (formerly the Thunderbolts)
  • Fantastic Four
  • X-Men
  • Big bad: Doom

That is a very full movie. Honestly, keeping one of the MCU's most overpowered characters on the bench might be the only way to prevent total narrative meltdown. Or she shows up and melts it on purpose. Either path seems plausible.

Bottom line: Olsen still cares about Wanda and wants back in when it makes sense. Until then, she's staying patient — and the door to the Hex is very much cracked open.
