New key art for Amazon MGM Studios’ Masters of the Universe has landed, and studio exec Greg Coleman is stoking hype at Brand Licensing Europe with fresh story tidbits and the promise of a high-energy, crowd-pleasing live-action adventure.

He-Man is actually happening. Amazon MGM Studios rolled into the licensing circuit with fresh concept art and a few story nuggets for its live-action Masters of the Universe movie, and it sounds like they want both lifelong MOTU diehards and total newcomers in the same theater on opening weekend.

The pitch: big, bold, and newbie-friendly

At Brand Licensing Europe, Amazon MGM Studios exec Greg Coleman teased a crowd-pleasing take that still throws bones to longtime fans. He even said fans of the game will spot Easter eggs, which is a funny way to put it given this franchise started as toys and cartoons. Point is, expect nods for the faithful without making everyone else feel like they missed homework.

"Skeletor is one of the most delicious villains of all time, but there's also a story of Adam, who is a regular person and has to grab the power. It's always within him, and it's revealed in a powerful way."

He also called it a fun, accessible entry point with director Travis Knight steering a 'full-dimensional' ensemble. Translation: this is meant to work whether you grew up on Castle Grayskull or you just wandered in for summer popcorn.

The new art: welcome to Snake Mountain

The latest key art is a first look at Snake Mountain, Skeletor's lava-soaked lair. It is exactly the kind of dramatic, scorched-rock villain base you hope it is. He-Man fan outlet He-Mania.com surfaced the sneak on October 7, 2025. And yes, Skeletor himself will be played by Oscar winner Jared Leto, which is a choice I am very curious to see on screen.

The setup: Adam crashes on Earth, then destiny calls

The movie reframes the origin in a way that actually makes sense for a big mainstream launch. When Prince Adam is 10, he crash-lands on Earth and gets separated from the Power Sword, his literal lifeline back to Eternia. Nearly twenty years later, he tracks the sword down, gets slingshotted across space, and finds his home world under threat from Skeletor. To stop him, Adam has to figure out who he really is and step fully into He-Man mode. Simple, clean, and it gives non-fans an easy way in.

Who is making this thing

Travis Knight (Bumblebee; Kubo and the Two Strings) is in the director's chair. The screenplay is by Chris Butler, building on earlier drafts from Aaron and Adam Nee and David Callaham. It is produced by Escape Artists and Mattel Films, with Robbie Brenner, Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch producing. The studio is Amazon MGM Studios.
