Fans hope the beloved comedy show will stick around a little longer.

While the third season of Ted Lasso disappointed many viewers with longer episodes and bloated storylines, the Apple TV+ hit is still miles ahead of other comedy shows on the air, and fans really don't want to see Ted and company disappear after Season 3. Though the streaming service itself has never referred to the current season as the last, the series' creator and lead actor Jason Sudeikis has pointed in that direction a number of times.

'This is the end of this story that we wanted to tell, that we were hoping to tell, that we loved to tell,' Sudeikis said to Deadline in March this year.

As AFC Richmond played its final game of the season in the show's finale, Ted got the perfect send-off as a manager, reuniting with his son Henry and starting to coach a junior league instead of Richmond. Because of what Sudeikis said earlier and how the story ended in the final episode, fans were sure this was the last time they saw the beloved characters on screen.

However, it now looks like Apple may be renewing Ted Lasso for another season after all.

'I think we have a talented enough writing staff, an incredible cast, tremendous production and post-production crew. They definitely have the ability and there's plenty of water left in that sponge to squeeze out. What happens beyond this, I won't know until this is all done,' Sudeikis recently said.

Of course, considering how popular Ted Lasso is, Apple is keen to think about taking the series a bit further, abandoning the three-season plan that was developed before the show even began filming. Although the main story is now wrapped up, fans shouldn't lose hope, as some of the supporting characters may return to the screen in the future.

Judging by what Jason Sudeikis said, a Ted Lasso spin-off focusing on the lives of other characters may be greenlit by Apple TV. Indeed, it would be a great shame to lose such a compelling series at the peak of its power, as so many people are not ready to say goodbye to Ted Lasso.
