It would appear the beloved couple may not end up together after all.

Although Paramount+'s Yellowstone was billed as a crime story with lots of intrigue and realistic action sequences, what made the show the huge hit that it is now was the complicated relationships between its main characters. People loved to follow the lives of the Dutton clan members, caring for each main character during their intricately spun narrative arcs.

And even though the show has become a bit of a soap opera in recent seasons, millions of people still tune in to see where the upcoming series finale will take their favourite characters.

Since the early seasons, fans have shipped two characters, Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, portrayed by Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser. Although the idea of the daughter of an extremely wealthy and powerful ranch owner marrying a ranch hand sounded a bit ridiculous early on, series creator Taylor Sheridan decided to make it a reality after seeing how much fans were invested in the potential pairing.

In the Season 4 finale, fans finally saw Beth and Rip marry, cementing their status as an endgame couple. However, given what Reilly said about the character's future in a recent interview, it would appear that this could be reversed in the remaining second half of Yellowstone's final season.

'Beth is haunted by her past. She has a lot of regrets and she has a lot of secrets that he doesn't know. So, there is something that is under the surface that will one day, I'm sure, come, and she's probably certain that she will lose him. In this season, you see that she is waking up in the night, constantly having bad dreams, constantly thinking about how she treated him,' Rielly said.

So it looks like even though Beth and Rip are married, Beth is still struggling with her identity and her connection to Rip, which could lead to some major drama in the upcoming final episodes and possibly cause the beloved couple to break up for good.

The second part of the final season was supposed to come out in November, but the ongoing WGA and SAG strikes may force Paramount to delay the much-anticipated premiere.
