Kardashian-Starring Season 12 Can Save American Horror Story – or Bury It For Good
Fans fear that Kim's involvement could ruin the popular show.
When American Horror Story premiered on FX in 2011, the entire world fell in love with Ryan Murphy's creation, which single-handedly revitalized the horror genre on television. Now that a decade has passed, however, AHS is no longer the critical darling it once was, as each new season strays further and further away from the original formula that made the show popular.
Now it looks like Ryan Murphy is ready to breathe new life into his prized project, but fans fear that his creative decisions may ruin the entire show for good.
Ahead of the upcoming Season 12, the creator made some quite surprising changes to AHS. For the first time in the show's history, Murphy has stepped down from the role of showrunner, allowing newcomer Halley Feiffer to take the reins over the hit series. Second, the upcoming season will be based on a book, not an original idea, which is troubling most long-time fans of the series.
But despite fans' concerns, Season 12 may still be the franchise's saving grace, as millions of people are sure to tune in for one reason only: Kim Kardashian will be playing one of the main characters, marking the first major acting role of her career.
However, while AHS may enjoy an influx of newcomers thanks to Kardashian's involvement, many old fans are not so thrilled about the casting choice. People are worried by the creators' decision, arguing that the controversial reality TV star will ruin the new season with unprofessional melodramatic acting.
At the same time, it must be noted that AHS has always worn its camp vibes on its sleeve without fear of being called tacky or stupid. With that in mind, Kim Kardashian joining the franchise is one of the best things that could happen to the show, as her image fits AHS perfectly.
American Horror Story seems to be at a crossroads with its upcoming Season 12, as the new chapter may be a total flop if Kim's acting fails. However, if her performance is at least tolerable, the show may be saved from a possible cancellation, giving fans hope for a decent Season 13.
AHS: Delicate is expected to debut later this summer, although the official release date is still unknown.
