Jude Law Will Only Return to The Holiday TV Show If This One Thing Happens

One condition, no compromise: Jude Law’s return to Apple TV+’s The Holiday hinges on a single demand that could shape the rom-com’s small-screen comeback.
Apple TV+ is cooking up a TV take on The Holiday, and Jude Law has thoughts. Short version: he is not in it right now, and if they do ask, he has one very clear condition.
Jude Law on the series: interested, with one big caveat
On Wednesday's Today show, Law said he has basically heard the same rumors we all have and nothing more. He does not think he is part of the series at this point. If that changes, he made his stance pretty simple:
"Nancy Meyers would have to be involved. She was the magic that brought all that together."
Worth noting: when the show first hit the trades, Nancy Meyers herself seemed blindsided. She posted on Instagram that this was news to her and that she discovered it by opening the app and seeing the announcement. So yeah, a little inside baseball there.
What we know about the Apple TV+ series
Reports last month said Apple TV+ is developing a show based on The Holiday that will focus on new characters rather than the original quartet. No plot details beyond that yet. The series is being written by Krissie Ducker and Rob Delaney, with Ducker also executive producing for Left Bank Pictures. No casting has been announced and there is no premiere date.
Quick refresher: the 2006 movie
- Written, directed, and produced by Nancy Meyers
- Cast: Cameron Diaz as Amanda Woods; Kate Winslet as Iris Simpkins; Jude Law as Graham Simpkins; Jack Black as Miles Dumont; Eli Wallach as Arthur Abbott
The movie follows two women, one American and one British, who swap homes at Christmastime after brutal breakups. Each meets a local guy, sparks fly, and then reality creeps in as the holiday ends and the return home threatens whatever they started.
Where to watch the original
The Holiday is available to rent or buy on the usual digital spots, including Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV.
