John Mulaney's The Bear Cameo Was the Best Part of Season 2
The popular show is back with a bang.
FX's The Bear was one of the most delightful surprises of 2022, as the story of a renowned chef returning to Chicago to rebuild his family's sandwich shop managed to thrill and surprise viewers in equal measure. Much to the delight of fans, the comedy-drama series managed to return exactly one year later with its second installment, making the audience fall in love with The Bear even more.
The new chapter of The Bear, which premiered all 10 episodes in just one day, was quickly and accurately described as one of the most intricately crafted television seasons in recent memory. For many, the highlight of the second season was the abundance of famous actors and actresses appearing in cameos and episodic roles.
In just 10 short episodes, The Bear Season 2 featured the likes of Olivia Colman, Jamie Lee Curtis, Will Poulter, and Bob Odenkirk, but no one surprised the audience more than stand-up comedian John Mulaney, whose brief but memorable appearance as the boyfriend of Carmy's cousin Michelle proved to be the best moment of the entire season for many.
John Mulaney appeared in the dramatic episode 'Fishes,' looking like a total outsider among the larger-than-life members of Carmy's family. Lots of viewers found it hard to believe that Mulaney's character was anyone other than the comedian himself, but this made the scene even funnier, as watching Mulaney take up acting is always a delightful experience.
However, some of the fans actually loved the comedian's performance, arguing that despite his lack of dramatic training, he still managed to make the scene work.
'I was so impressed with John's performance this episode! He held his own against decorated prestige actors, and it was nice to see him reunite with SNL alum Abby Elliot. His speech at the dinner table was one of the more striking moments of the season, and of the episode,' one fan said.
If FX decides to pick up The Bear for an upcoming third season, fans will fully expect Mulaney to return to share his wacky sense of humor with The Bear's cast and fans.
