It looks like the actor is preparing fans for something big.

Since 2016, Netflix's Stranger Things has enchanted audiences worldwide. The 1980s-themed series proved so charming and engaging in its first season that millions of fans were hooked after just one episode. Although the show's scope expanded with each new season, fans still held the original characters in higher regard than the newly introduced ones. Joe Keery's character, Steve Harrington, is a prime example of this.

Initially, Steve was depicted as somewhat of a jerk. However, he evolved into a commendable hero in the subsequent seasons, becoming one of the most cherished characters on Stranger Things. As the final fifth season is already in the writing stage (or at least it was supposed to be before the WGA strike broke out), it would appear that Keery has been let in on his character's future, and it looks like there is nothing good in store for him.

In a recent interview, Keery candidly discussed the prospect of bidding farewell to Stranger Things after the upcoming season. It was evident that the actor was considerably upset about it. Despite having a promising career at the moment, Keery is most remembered primarily for his role as Steve. His statement that the upcoming final season will be quite sad has had fans worrying about what's going to happen to Steve.

'I owe my whole career to being on that show, and all the opportunities that I have had since are because of that show. So, it's very convoluted. There's a sense of relief, there's a sense of sadness,' Keery said.

One Stranger Things Season Was Perfect; Others? Just Meh, According to Reddit

However, some fans were quick to suggest that Keery was likely referring to his own feelings, not the upcoming season, and expressing his sentiment about leaving Hawkins behind. If that is the case, fans can rest easy about Steve's future. It's highly improbable that the Duffer brothers would kill off such a beloved character, especially considering their plans to produce several Stranger Things spin-offs in the future.

Nevertheless, the final season of Stranger Things is bound to feature some heart-wrenching deaths of fan-favourite characters. We can only hope that Steve isn't one of them!
