It would appear that the actor didn't believe in the show's success.

CBS's The Big Bang Theory was one of the most influential sitcoms of the 21st century, definitively proving that even the quirkiest characters could become household names.

Naturally, each of the show's protagonists gave their all to make it successful, but Jim Parsons' portrayal of Sheldon Cooper became the glue that held the show together for twelve seasons. That was because the actor did everything he could to make his character the beloved presence he remains today.

Before joining The Big Bang Theory in 2007, Parsons was not particularly famous, so the offer to lead an ensemble sitcom on a primetime network was a huge opportunity for him. However, it would appear that Parsons did not anticipate how popular the show would become, even expressing concern at one point that it might not be renewed for a second season.

'I didn't know it would stay in the air… but I did connect with it in a way that was pretty specific. I will say that. It doesn't happen, as an actor, I don't feel things like that happen that often. A lot of roles that you're like: “I could do this, and it's fine, and it's good even.” But there was something from the moment I read this one. But as far as carrying on into something that has gone on this long, no, I had no idea,' Parson said.

Well, it seems that even big stars have to worry about their career choices at some point in their lives, and Parsons has once again proven to be one of the most relatable Hollywood stars.

Furthermore, it appears that Parsons portrayed Sheldon with such passion that it became unimaginable to envision the show without him. Therefore, when the actor decided to leave after twelve seasons, the creator, Chuck Lorre, chose to end the show, even though he had plans for several more seasons before learning of Parsons' decision.

In any event, Parson's concerns about the show's future motivated him to work even harder, and his hard work has paid off, seeing how his net worth now stands at an impressive $160 million.
