It looks like the perfect idea for a Desperate Housewives reboot has been found.

ABC's drama series about a group of housewives who constantly find themselves in dangerous situations quickly became a huge hit for the network when it premiered in 2004.

Starring Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, and Eva Longoria, the series ended its acclaimed run in 2012, and unlike many other popular shows of the era, was never really mentioned as a possible reboot material. That is, until now.

In a recent interview, Jesse Metcalfe, who played conniving gardener John Rowland on the show, explained his stance on the idea of rebooting Desperate Housewives, and fans agree that the actor is right to suspect that ABC might be considering such an idea.

'I think they could definitely reboot Desperate Housewives. I could be, like, one of the parents of the younger cast or something,’ Metcalfe told Parade.

While most viewers remember Metcalfe as a handsome youth, he is now 44 years old and certainly looks like someone's father. So, people are one hundred percent behind the actor's idea, arguing that seeing him in such an unusual role would be a great treat for every old-time fan of Desperate Housewives.

However, some aren't so thrilled with the idea of seeing Metcalfe play a different character in the reboot, wondering if it would be possible to expand Rowland's storyline for a potential new chapter.

On the other hand, part of the fandom argues that Rowland was never a very interesting character without Longoria's Gabrielle Solis, so seeing him return without her would be a total disaster.

Perhaps ABC will take note of Metcalfe's idea and greenlight the show, and some fans really wish it would be a soft reboot instead of a complete one. The network could invite all of the original cast members back for supporting roles, while the lead roles would be filled by younger actors. ABC, listen up!
