Is Timothée Chalamet a Nepo Baby? (Who Cares When He's This Good?)
Fans are confused by the actor's industry connections.
Without a doubt, Timothée Chalamet is one of the most popular actors working in Hollywood today, and for good reason. While Chalamet first came to prominence thanks to his insane looks and pretty boy aura, he has proven himself as a talented performer with his roles in films like Call Me By Your Name, Dune, and Bones And All.
However, it seems that some fans suspect Timothée of being a nepo baby, arguing that his family's industry connections made him popular in the first place.
'Timothee Chalamet had family in the biz. I'm tired of having him shoved down our throats. He's a good actor, but people act like he's some sort of god, and it confuses me,' a Redditor noted.
Chalamet's family ties explained
While some fans have argued that Chalamet's parents helped him get into the business when his career was still non-existent, that couldn't be further from the truth. Here's why.
6 Feel-Good Celeb Stories that Will Actually Make Your DayAlthough the actor's parents are both talented and successful in their respective fields, they do not actually have any connection to Hollywood whatsoever. Chalamet's father Marc is a respected journalist who works for UNICEF as editor-at-large for French publications, while his mother Nicole is an accomplished dancer known for her roles in Broadway productions of Fiddler on the Roof and Hello Dolly.
So it looks like even though both parents could have encouraged Timothée to pursue acting, it's unlikely that they would pull some strings to get him the roles.
His aunt and uncle are in show business
However, it looks like Chalamet's uncle Rodman and aunt Amy might have actually helped him get some acting gigs, as they're both pretty prominent figures in Hollywood.
Rodman Flender is best known as the director of Leprechaun 2 and Idle Hands and for his work with Conan O'Brien on Conan O'Brien Can't Stop, while Amy Lippman happens to be the co-creator of the hit series Party of Five and executive producer on Masters of Sex.
But while it's quite likely that Chalamet's aunt and uncle helped him land some early roles, that doesn't mean the actor should be ashamed of it. Ultimately, it is his great acting skills and determination that made him a star, not his family's patronage.
