Fans don't like the show for one reason.

Just a decade ago, The CW's Supernatural was one of the biggest shows in the world, drawing millions of viewers to follow brothers Dean and Sam Winchester as they battled all manner of evil on a weekly basis. So it's no wonder that the producers have decided to capitalize on their hit show by announcing their plans to create a Supernatural animated spin-off in the style of Japanese animation - anime.

Supernatural: The Animated Series premiered in 2011 and unfortunately only lasted one season, as the show was canceled due to poor ratings and mediocre reviews from fans and critics alike. But what exactly was wrong with the show?

The writers really tried

While some fans were quick to write the show off as a spin-off created just to milk the audience, the anime was actually quite good, with writers and directors putting in the real work to make the show compelling and unique. However, only one thing ruined it for them - the voice acting.

While Jared Padalecki voiced Sam for all 22 episodes of the first season, Jensen Ackles was apparently too busy to voice Dean, which resulted in Annakin Slayd, aka Andrew Farrar, voicing the beloved character.

'That’s why I only really watched the first episode. And it's only Jared and Jensen. It was really weird to watch Supernatural and hear "Sam", but have Dean, Bobby, and John with different (albeit talented) voices,' a fan said.

Needless to say, fans were not happy about this, but one thing made it even worse - Ackles actually decided to voice Dean, appearing in two of the last episodes of the show, completely ruining the immersion for all viewers who had already gotten used to a different voice.

'I liked this series, wished they went to 5 seasons. Andrew Farrar who played Dean is decent, but it was weird when Jensen came back for the final 2 episodes, I got used to the voice. It's dark like Supernatural,' a fan noted.

Who knows, maybe if Ackles had been on board since season one, Supernatural: The Animated Series could have lasted much longer as a one-season show.
