Is Netflix holding back, or is there something else going on?

With no news yet on the release date for Bridgerton season 3, fans are growing increasingly anxious. What's the hold up? Many are beginning to wonder if the delay is caused by a situation beyond the control of the Bridgerton creative team.

Could the writers' strike affect a show that's already written and filmed?

The ongoing writers' strike began in May this year, with the Writers Guild of America demanding better wages, increased contributions to pension and healthcare plans, better working conditions and protection for writers. In July, the 11,000-strong group of striking writers was joined by the Screen Actors Guild, piling more pressure on Hollywood and other industry giants.

Netflix has been singled out by the WGA as a target for their grievances, with claims that the streaming giant has negatively affected their wages and working conditions.

With the strike still unresolved and causing major production delays and even show cancellations across the industry, fans have begun to wonder if it has actually affected the release of Bridgerton's third season.

Many fans believe that the final stages of post-production for Season 3 have come to a halt and are facing indefinite delays. But why? Well, one Redditor has a theory.

'I am sure Netflix will do the huge promo push a month in advance to remind everyone that [Bridgerton] is coming back,' they wrote. 'After all if they are delaying for the strike, that means they want the actors doing promo for it. Else, they can release by December whenever post production is done.'

So if the fan's suspicions are correct and the season is affected by the strike, Bridgerton would join the ever-growing list of delayed shows, which includes Cobra Kai Season 6, Emily in Paris Season 4, Stranger Things Season 5 and other Netflix hits.

All previous theories have pointed to season 3 being set for release on December 14, but as December draws closer and no promos or official trailers have been released, it seems there could be a critical delay to the newest season. We know that filming wrapped in March of this year, which would have put it on track for a release this year, possibly even sooner than December.

If we don't hear something soon, it's probably safe to assume that the production of Bridgerton season 3 has been delayed by the strike, but we hope that's not the case. Fans can only wait for so long before they start to lose hope and interest.

'Almost 2 years between S2 and S3 is too long to keep people interested,' as one fan summed up the situation.

The next time we hear about Bridgerton season 3, it could be an official release date, or it could be confirmation of our worst fears: a statement that the upcoming season has been delayed or postponed due to the strike.
