Iam & Oliver's Friendship is the Best Thing About American Idol Season 21
Fans are sad to see two best friends separated on their way to the finale.
Although American Idol Season 21 was far from the best in the history of the reality competition, fans were still amazed at how great some of the singers were, giving great performances and excelling behind the scenes. And of all the great friendships this season, the one between Iam Tongi and Oliver Steele was definitely the most memorable, as the two singers delighted fans with their off-screen banter and loyal support for each other.
Apparently, Iam and Oliver became friends right after the auditions.
They then stood by each other throughout the competition, making it to the Top 8. And their recent interview together perfectly proves how humble and caring Iam really is, and how much Oliver respects him for it, praising the Hawaiian singer for his authenticity.
And while Oliver did not make it into the Top 5, he was certainly more than happy to see his friend advance all the way into the Top 3 with relative ease this past Sunday. Fans are sure the two will continue their friendship beyond American Idol and have already named Oliver and Iam's relationship the best thing about the current season.
‘Love these two. I hope they do a duet together in Top 8. It'll be a bittersweet memory for Oliver, possibly his last night on the show singing with his best friend one last time while his dad watches from the audience,’ wrote a fan before the Top 5 reveal.
It looks like Iam is already considered the season's frontrunner, as his competitors, Colin Stough and Megan Danielle, are unlikely to beat the fan-favourite singer in the finale. Perhaps after winning American Idol, Iam will pay a moving tribute to his friend and cement his reputation as a kind and caring person.
Whatever the case may be, Iam and Oliver are determined to record something together in the future, and fans will definitely be looking forward to it, given how much audiences love seeing the two perform together.
