It looks like HBO's decision is going over well with the fans.

While House of the Dragon proved to be one of the best TV shows of the past year, perfectly filling the void left by Game of Thrones, it was also a bit of a disappointment to many viewers who disliked it for various reasons. Fans have criticized the new show's cheap white wigs, controversial plot twists, and the huge mid-season time jump that saw the majority of the main cast replaced with other actors.

Fortunately, it looks like HBO doesn't want to make the same mistakes twice.

According to various sources, House of the Dragon's Season 2 will focus more on the young Targaryens, as characters like Baela and Rhaena will rule in the civil war and be among the surviving members of the entire dynasty. Fans felt that these characters had been sidelined harshly in the first season, despite the fact that they are essential to the plot.

'I get that people were frustrated with deleted scenes with Baela and not see much of the children, but they couldn't develop them fully in one season that needs to cram 25 years of story in order to explain why there is a civil war,' one fan said, explaining why the characters did not come into their own in the first season.

Now it appears that HBO has listened to those complaints, as Baela and Rhaena are reportedly getting a significant boost in their screen time next season.

While this is just a promise and nothing is certain yet, some fans believe that HBO won't be able to allow much room for Baela and Rhaena's development, as the first season' core cast of characters is not going anywhere in Season 2, and major actors like Matt Smith and Rhys Ifans won't be okay with giving all of their screen time to some supporting characters.

'Since there are no more time jumps, I expect them to be more present in most episodes, but I don't think they will steal all the screen time since there will be newcomers and Daemon, Rhaenyra, Alicent, Criston Cole and Otto will still have a significant presence as well,' another fan noted.

It looks like the younger Targaryens will play a much bigger role in Season 2, but they are still unlikely to be the main heroes of the upcoming installment. In any case, fans will be pleased to see their stories evolving further to make them true heroes of the Civil War.
