The beloved show is over, and you should not be sad.

When Bill Hader premiered Barry on HBO in 2018, everyone thought the show about a hit man who wants to be a Hollywood actor was just another forgettable comedy series. But instead, we got a true cultural sensation, as each subsequent season became more thoughtful and provocative, while the acting and writing remained at a godlike level.

Now that the fourth season, which follows Barry's life in prison, is officially over, fans are eagerly awaiting what the future holds for this beloved series. Sadly, it looks like another season is out of the question.

According to Hader himself, he always planned to end Barry after Season 4, even though ending the show after the third chapter seemed much more appropriate, as this season's finale saw Barry getting caught red-handed on a crime scene and arrested. However, the creator revealed that he was too interested in putting Barry behind bars, and given that both critics and fans loved the fourth season to death, it looks like he was right to take the risk of producing that final installment.

Now it looks like Hader is officially done with Barry, telling the public that he has achieved everything he wanted with his character and the show, and he does not intend to return to the project.

'What happens in Season 4 is structurally radical in some ways, but it made sense for what I think the characters needed to go through, and what I think the whole show is always kind of headed towards. You realize, well, we could pad a lot of stuff, and just make [the] story. But if we're going forward, it ends in Season 4,' Hader said.

Yes, Barry is over and Season 5 will never become a reality. Even though this may be sad for fans of the show, Hader's reasons for finishing the project are understandable, as he has already done everything to make Barry a hit, so he doesn't want to ruin the story for the sake of making a little more money.

Good things come to an end, but we still have four full seasons of Barry, which will forever be remembered as one of the best comedy series of the era.
