Here's Why Walking Dead Fans Are So Against Daryl & Carol Romance
Fans are still against the divisive pairing.
There's no denying that The Walking Dead has become a bit of a soap opera over the past four seasons, with characters seemingly more concerned with starting romances than surviving and fighting zombies. This made Norman Reedus' Daryl Dixon an even more beloved character, as he never got romantically involved with anyone and continued to seem like a realistically portrayed character.
That's why it was a no-brainer for AMC to make Daryl the star of his own spin-off show, and the recently concluded first season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon proved it was the right decision. The short and well-paced first installment was a huge treat for new and old fans of the universe, but one question still remained – why is Daryl not dating anyone?
Daryl and Carol explained
Considering that Daryl and Carol not only shared an insane chemistry on the original show, but will be co-starring in the second season of the spin-off, it would have been natural for them to finally start dating, but it looks like the fans are really against it.
The thing is, while Daryl and Carol look like a perfect match on paper, fans are certain that their bond will be ruined if they become romantically involved with each other, as the depth in their relationship came from friendship, not flirting.
They care about each other and fans will hate to see them take the next step as it makes no sense in their shared character arc.
All is not lost for Daryl
That said, it's not like fans are strictly against Daryl dating someone, as most of them do ship him to another TWD character – Connie. Though she didn't appear in the spin-off, fans are hoping she'll return in the upcoming second season and become a major love interest for the tough guy.
After all, the two seemed destined for happiness together in the later parts of TWD, so the writers won't get any backlash from the fandom if the two actually start dating in the next batch of episodes.
