Hell No or Maybe So? Jim Parsons on Reprising His Big Bang Role
It looks like Jim Parsons might be open to playing Sheldon Cooper again.
Before The Big Bang Theory, Jim Parsons was an up-and-coming actor, but the moment he stepped onto the small screen as Sheldon Cooper, he became a true superstar, carrying the entire show for 12 consecutive seasons.
Obviously, playing the same character for more than a decade is quite a task for any performer, so when Parsons refused to return for the sitcom's 13th season, fans were quite supportive of his decision, even though it meant that the show itself was coming to an end.
But can he still return to play Sheldon Cooper at some point in the future?
First of all, we must remember that Parsons is still playing the character, even though The Big Bang Theory is over, as he narrates almost every episode of the prequel show Young Sheldon, earning quite a bit of money for the gig. However, that doesn't mean the actor is ready to reprise the role that made him famous, as he recently revealed in an interview.
'At this point? Hell no. In 30 years? Maybe. You'll have to ask me then, depending on how nice the beach is I'm living on,' Parsons said.
It looks like Parsons is quite open to returning to the small screen as Sheldon sometime in the distant future, perhaps appearing in some kind of sequel to the original story, but he is definitely not keen on reprising the role any time soon. Playing Sheldon in 12 seasons of the cult show has been quite an exhausting experience for the actor, so it's natural that Parsons would want to focus on other roles for the time being.
And considering that the TBBT star boasts an insane net worth of $160 million, it looks like CBS will not be able to lure him back into the role in the next couple of decades.
Fans of adult Sheldon should prepare themselves for a very long wait to see the beloved character again, but perhaps other TBBT actors will be more willing to return to their roles sooner?
