Heartstopper Season 2: Can Kit Connor Actually Speak French?
Is the actor really bilingual?
Netflix's Heartstopper became a popular show in its first season, and the second installment of the LGBTQ+ romantic teen drama proved that its appeal is here to stay. Nick and Charlie's relationship deepened considerably in the latest season, and other characters also got their chance to shine, making it clear that the series will have plenty of topics to cover in the seasons to come.
If fans were forced to choose the best storyline of Season 2, many would probably pick the Paris trip as their favorite. And it's no wonder because seeing Nick, Charlie, and their friends explore the most romantic city in the world was a real treat for viewers.
During the trip, Nick surprised his classmates and the audience by talking to his dad in pretty fluent French — even Charlie didn't know his boyfriend was bilingual all along. This made people wonder why Nick hadn't bragged to Charlie about knowing another language, but most of all, fans are curious if actor Kit Connor can speak French himself.
While it's obvious that Connor knows at least a little bit of French, as his speeches on the show look quite impressive, the actor has revealed that he learned it specifically for the role.
In the promotional video for Season 1, Kit is asked if he speaks French and admits that he only knows a few words in the language. However, in Season 2, his ability to communicate in French is evidently much better, which suggests that the young actor has spent enough time learning to properly mimic a French accent and really sell fans on the idea that his character is bilingual.
With Heartstopper Season 3 already confirmed, fans are begging the writers to include the scene where Nick teaches Charlie some French. This could well be one of the most tender interactions between the lovers, and it would fit the characters' dynamic in the most beautiful way.
Also, the good news is that Heartstopper's third season will not be delayed by the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, as most of the cast work under UK Equity contracts.
