Hayden Christensen Is All In For A Darth Vader Series Or Movie—Your Move, Lucasfilm
In the rush to the top, power players are choking on their aspirations—the high-stakes scramble where bold promises, bruising tactics, and one misstep can end a career.
Hayden Christensen is not done with the black helmet. If Lucasfilm wants a Darth Vader project, he sounds very ready to suit up again.
"I would love to, yeah. So if the powers that be decide that that's something they want to see, I'd be there in a heartbeat."
That was Christensen on stage at Fan Expo Chicago, talking about the idea of a Vader-led series or movie. Honestly, it tracks. After disappearing from live-action Star Wars for 17 years, he jumped back in with Obi-Wan Kenobi, pulling double duty as both Darth Vader and Anakin Skywalker in flashbacks and visions. Then he showed up in Ahsoka season 1 for that World Between Worlds sequence with his former Padawan, which is still one of the more pleasantly bizarre Star Wars swings in recent memory.
Where he is now (and where he's going)
- After a 17-year gap, Christensen returned in Obi-Wan Kenobi as Vader and, in memories/visions, as Anakin.
- He fully reprised Anakin in Ahsoka season 1, meeting Ahsoka in the World Between Worlds.
- He confirmed at this year's Star Wars Celebration in Japan that he is back in Ahsoka season 2: "There's not much that I can share, but Anakin will be back for season 2."
- He told fans at Fan Expo Chicago he'd jump at a Vader series or movie.
- And if he does Vader again, he wants him to stay terrifying, like in Rogue One.
On that last point, he was pretty effusive at Fan Expo Boston. He said he loved how Vader was portrayed in Rogue One and gave a nod to the team effort behind the character: "There are so many different people that have contributed to this character, and I'm just one of them." Translation: keep Vader scary, keep the bar high.
Meanwhile, in the galaxy at large...
Next up on the Star Wars calendar is The Mandalorian and Grogu, hitting theaters next May. Pedro Pascal's Din Djarin and Grogu are off on another dangerous mission, because of course they are. Different corner of the galaxy, same impulse to hop into trouble.
