Halle Berry’s Dominatrix Thriller Casts Supergirl Villain, New Release Date Revealed
Halle Berry’s dominatrix movie snaps into gear as production kicks off, expanding the cast with fresh faces including a Supergirl villain alum, and teasing an early release window.
Halle Berry is suiting up for a Paris-set drama with a premise that definitely raises an eyebrow: a longtime New York housewife walks out on her life, lands in France, and reinvents herself as an upscale escort and dominatrix. Yes, really. Cameras are already rolling.
What is 'Fleur' about?
Berry plays a New Yorker who leaves the United States and the husband she has been with for thirty years. In Paris, she adopts a new identity as Fleur and steps into the world of high-end companionship and power dynamics. When her old life collides with the one she is building, the film zeroes in on a choice: does she go back, or keep going?
New cast, familiar face (to superhero fans)
The ensemble around Berry just got bigger as production kicks off in Paris. One of the new additions will ring a bell for Supergirl viewers thanks to a villain turn on that series.
- Matthias Schoenaerts
- Makita Samba
- Marton Csokas (playing Berry's character's husband of three decades)
Who is behind the camera?
Ellie Foumbi is writing and directing, marking her second feature after Our Father, the Devil, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2021. That festival pedigree plus this cast signals a moody, adult character piece rather than a glossy thriller. I am listening.
Production and the long runway
Financing and co-production come from AGC Studios in association with Davis Films, with Davis also handling French distribution under the Metropolitan Filmexport banner. Killer Films is producing. Berry is producing through her HalleHolly label with Holly Jeter, and Gabriel Mayers is on board for Plot Twist Pictures.
Executive producers include AGC's Stuart Ford, Miguel Palos, and Zach Garrett; Davis Films' Victor Hadida; Killer Films' Pam Koffler; and Lorelle Lynch. Paris-based Vixens is handling production services.
Filming is underway now, but here is the behind-the-scenes wrinkle: the current target for release is way out there, somewhere between 2027 and 2028. That is a long fuse for a project already on set, so expect plenty of updates as it moves through the pipeline.
