Great British Bake Off: Professionals Already Does One Thing Better Than the Original
It looks like the iconic show is starting to lose viewers to its own spin-off.
The Great British Bake Off (aka The Great British Baking Show for those living in the U.S. and Canada), a reality show about ordinary people trying to impress celebrity judges with their baking skills, has been hugely popular since it premiered in 2010.
However, after Season 7, many began to dislike Bake Off quite a bit, in no small part because fan-favorite judges Mary Berry, Sue Perkins, and Mel Giedroyc left the project, and the whole show started to look more like promotional material for some clout-hungry contestants.
Fortunately, there is a solution for those viewers who miss the vibes that the cooking show used to have — its spin-off series, Great British Baking Show: Professionals.
This spin-off has been on the air since 2016, and now it really looks like the perfect alternative to the original series. For starters, Professionals is all about, well, professionalism, so you won't see any of the fame-hungry amateur cooks that have plagued the main show in recent years.
The spin-off focuses on professional pastry chefs working in teams of two to win the competition by presenting the most elaborate cakes and wowing the audience with incredible flavor combinations.
With a premise like that, fans can expect the chefs to deliver on their promise to produce something unique in each episode, as the reputation of their bakeries and restaurants depends on their success. Finally, viewers have a chance to see talented chefs create something special instead of watching yet another Bake Off contestant bake a boring chocolate cake.
And with the original trio of judges leaving Bake Off, there's no real reason to continue watching the main show, as the new judges are pretty disappointing to say the least.
Professionals, on the other hand, features Liam Charles and Tom Allen as presenters, and the two really make a great team, complementing the cooking process perfectly with their jokes and mannerisms.
So if you're tired of watching the main show go off the rails but can't say goodbye to baking, give Professionals a try — all seasons are currently available on Netflix.
