From Child's Play to Serious Pay: Inside Ed Gale's $8M Net Worth
Actor Ed Gale, who has appeared in numerous shows and movies during a career spanning four decades, is under investigation by the LAPD for allegedly engaging in a text conversation with a 14-year-old boy.
The Chucky star is alleged to have been in communication with a group called Creep Catcher Unit (CCU), although they say he believed he was talking to an underage boy with whom he was arranging to meet for 'oral, hand and possibly anal' sex.
CCU say 59-year-old Gale, who first found fame as Howard the Duck in 1986, has 'talked sexually' online with numerous minors, according to the Daily Mail.
The investigation is still ongoing, and no details have been released. But a video of police speaking to Gale was posted on the Daily Mail's website.
All of which begs the question why someone who has been in the movie industry for so long and has made millions of dollars from acting, would be getting involved in this sort of chat with anybody.
Is he down on his luck? Has he blown his millions?
No.
Gale has a reported net worth of $8 million. And the Michigan-born actor now lives in an apartment in New York. Which means he has plenty of cash to spend getting an adult escort to satisfy his desires – and he's in a city in which there are plenty of sex workers who would be only too willing to take it off of him in exchange for a variety of services.
And if he doesn't want to invite them round to his place, it's not like New York is lacking in hotels.
Yet, like some other big-name stars who have been caught out in similar circumstances over the years, this story and the video and screenshots that accompany it, look likely to spell the end of Gale's career in the spotlight – and the ruination of his reputation.
For some celebs, it seems to be some sort of compulsion that makes them do these crazy, seedy and illegal things despite the fact that they have the wealth that you would expect means they don't need to take such risks – which, incidentally, is the same wealth they could put to good use on therapy if they find themselves attracted to underage sexual partners.
The case is still ongoing and no charges have yet been brought. But Ed Gale may soon find he has plenty of time on his hands to contemplate why he didn't stick to a less disgusting way of gratification.
