Forget Bridgerton: Adjoa Andoh's Real-Life Love Story Worthy of Lady Whistledown's Pages
Shonda Rhimes should adapt Adjoa's own story for Netflix!
Of all the older characters in the original Bridgerton series, none was as exciting as Lady Agatha Danbury, played with gusto by Adjoa Andoh. This powerful lady is the character in the main series and has also found her way into the recently released spin-off, Queen Charlotte, appearing in the first two flash-forwards.
Just like Lady Danbury and the other characters, it looks like Adjoa Andoh knows and cares a lot about love, and the story of how she met her husband is worthy of Bridgerton's famous romances.
Back in the 1990s, Adjoa worked in a small theater company that operated out of a tiny office above a bookstore. When the bookstore was bought by a man named Howard Cunnell, Adjoa decided to get to know her new neighbor and immediately struck up a friendship with the smiling writer.
However, Howard wasn't just about friendship with the actress, as he revealed his true thoughts about her in a recent interview.
'There was a lovely staircase that went up to the offices. I'd seen Adjoa come down those stairs and I lost my head,' Cunnell said.
It seems that the writer had his eye on the rising actress even before they met and fell in love with each other. A while later, when he saw Adjoa perform on stage, Howard lost his head even more and finally decided to reveal his true feelings to her.
The two began dating and immediately bonded over art and soccer. After the birth of their two children, the couple got married in 2001 and are celebrating 22 years of marriage this year!
According to Adjoa, she and her husband are still madly in love, and it seems that the star has managed to bring some of her romantic feelings to the screen, making Lady Danbury feel even more realistic than she was on paper.
Needless to say, Bridgerton fans loved Adjoa and Howard's love story, arguing that Netflix producers should take note of it and adapt the beautiful romance into a sweet rom-com or show.
As for Adjoa Andoh's role as Lady Danbury, fans of the series still have a long time to wait until they see her again — Bridgerton Season 3 is currently in post-production, expected to premiere in late 2023 or even early 2024, according to some sources.
