FBI Fans, Brace for Bad News: Season 6 is Not Coming in 2023
The beloved procedural is on hold for the time being.
Ever since news of the WGA strike broke in May, it became clear to fans and screen professionals that the writers' refusal to work would seriously derail the entire industry.
And they were right, as a whole bunch of anticipated shows and movies were stopped in the middle of filming to wait for the strike to end. Then things got even worse when SAG-AFTRA joined the strike, advising thousands of actors to stop shooting and promoting movies and TV shows until their demands were met.
Faced with such a complicated situation, many networks decided to halt production of their series for the time being, canceling premieres and postponing the return of beloved shows. And unfortunately, CBS is no exception to this trend, as the network recently excluded many shows from its fall 2023 launch, including the highly anticipated Season 6 of FBI.
While writing for the upcoming season was halted all the way back in May, the fact that the cast can't use scripts that have already been completed forced CBS producers to shelve the show for the foreseeable future. But don't worry, FBI will not be canceled!
According to the official information from CBS, FBI Season 6 has simply been moved from fall to mid-season, which means that fans should expect to see the beloved characters again sometime between January and March of 2024. While it's heartbreaking not to see FBI again this year, at least CBS is already announcing a timeframe for its return.
Given that Season 6 will premiere in early 2024, it's highly unlikely that future seasons of FBI will ever return to the original fall release dates, as the entire schedule for the show will be severely shifted.
CBS certainly hopes that the strike will be over in no time, because if SAG and WGA continue to strike until the fall, the whole of 2024 could end up without any content, as creating and filming new series takes a lot of time, and writers and actors are essential to that process.
So far, however, it looks like writers and actors have no intention of letting up in their quest against Hollywood producers. Stay tuned to not miss any important updates on the strikes and the production of FBI.
