Fans' Plea to CBS' Ghosts: Bring in the Big Comic Guns or Risk Vanishing
It looks like the promising sitcom will have to step it up a bit.
In 2019, BBC's hit series Ghosts surprised viewers with a very unique sitcom setup — instead of a group of friends, the main heroes of the show are the ghosts of people who died in a house, and the interactions between them and the current house owners proved to be a true comedy marvel to watch.
Unsurprisingly, CBS decided to jump on the hype train immediately, buying the rights to the show and premiering its own version of Ghosts in 2021.
But while ratings for the new show have been great, it looks like fans are starting to question the sitcom's future after the end of Season 2.
The show's original premise hasn't lost any of its appeal and viewers are still glued to their screens watching the hilarious interactions between living people and the ghosts. However, people feel that CBS needs to do something extra to keep the fandom engaged in the upcoming Season 3.
Viewers are worried that none of the ghosts have really developed a personality of their own, and the show relies a bit too much on the characters acting stupid, just spouting the same jokes about their historical periods over and over again and boring viewers in the process.
Fortunately, fans already have a solution to this problem, using another popular sitcom as inspiration to make Ghosts even more beloved in the upcoming third installment.
'I think they need to go to the same strategy as Parks and Rec and bring in some new Fish-out-of-the-water ghosts that can freshen up the ridiculousness of the situation. And when they do, they should get the best comedic acting talent they can — someone who elevates everyone else's craft by their reactions,' one fan suggested.
CBS should listen to the fans' criticism and ideas because, if they don't tweak the show's formula a bit, it's going to be hard to preserve those great viewership numbers for the new installment. We're hoping that the upcoming Season 3 will feature some new exciting ghosts, and the old ones will be given more room to develop as personalities.
On January 12, CBS renewed Ghosts for a third season, which is to premiere sometime this fall.
