Fan Theory Explains Why Charmaine is Still Around in Virgin River Season 5
Fans are not sure why Charmaine is still on the show.
Without a doubt, Netflix's Virgin River is one of the most popular melodramas in the streaming service's library, as the story of LA nurse Mel, who moves to a quiet town to find peace and happiness, really managed to capture that feel-good feeling that a lot of people are chasing these days. And after a rather disappointing Season 4, fans are finally sure that the show is back on track, as the recently released Season 5 managed to delight and excite audiences just like the original installment did in 2019.
And while there were many new thrilling revelations this season, including Jack and Mel buying a new house and the identity of the father of Charmaine's twins, fans are still not sure why the writers keep wasting their time on Charmaine.
A weary presence
While Charmaine was undoubtedly one of the most interesting characters of the first season, the soon-to-be mother who was about to give birth to her twins was both compelling and a bit annoying. However, the moment Charmaine began blackmailing Jack into returning to her by claiming that he was the father of the twins, fans began to hate her.
Besides, Jack was obviously not the father, since the criminal Calvin was revealed to be the real father this season. Given all this, it's only natural that fans expected Charmaine to give birth to her twins and disappear from the story in Season 5, but the fact that this hasn't happened yet means that the writers have something interesting in store for her.
A sad ending
While fans have been waiting to see the twins since Season 1, fans are sure that the writers are keeping Charmaine around for a very sad reason - apparently, they want to kill Charmaine off, either because of a complicated pregnancy or Calvin's revenge.
'Charmaine hands those twins off to Mel and Jack after Mel delivers them? Like she abandons them or, God forbid, dies delivering them. Yes, Daddy Calvin is back but he's going to prison surely. I just keep thinking there's a reason Charmaine is still around. And with the last scene at the swing on the farm when Mel says "fill it with our kids. However, they come, whenever they come".... could this be some foreshadowing?' a fan said.
