Ex-Coronation Street Star Now Works as a Nail Technician, Couldn't Be Happier
Georgia May Foote is ready to take the next step.
It's obvious that being a big actress with thousands of fans is the ultimate goal for many people, as earning tons of money for acting and winning awards sounds like a dream come true. However, actors who fail to hit it big will sometimes end up wasting too much time on their careers with little to show for it, so it's only natural that they will often choose to devote more time to themselves instead.
And it looks like even big paychecks and thousands of Instagram followers can't convince some actors to keep working. Georgia May Foote is a prime example of this phenomenon.
The popular British actress began her career at 14, starring in the cult children's series Grange Hill from 2005 to 2008. And in 2010, the young actress landed her first starring role in the long-running soap opera Coronation Street, playing Katy, the youngest daughter of Owen and Izzy Armstrong. Foote stayed with the soap until 2015, when she left the show to pursue other career opportunities, resulting in her character being killed off-screen in a car accident. However, it looks like the actress has decided to go from just pursuing other career opportunities in acting to pursuing a completely different career.
Earlier this month, Foote finally revealed her next big project, and it has nothing to do with acting. The actress surprisingly announced that she spent the last two years of her life training to be a nail technician and is now opening her own nail salon, GMF Nails.
‘I spent the last two years working with some amazing girls who have now become lifelong friends, who taught me everything I needed to know, and gave me the confidence to do everything you guys throw at me! Nails give me that little bit of head space and security most actors need!’ Foote said.
However, Foote has no plans to abandon her acting career altogether to do nails. She says she still sees acting as her main job. But as of now, the actress is far more invested in working as a nail technician, as this craft has finally given her a space to relax from spending so much time in front of the cameras and has protected her from the uncertainty that is part and parcel of the acting career where you never know when and if you're going to land your next big role.
