Members of the original TBBT cast aren't privy to the producers' spin-off ideas.

On Warner Bros. Discovery's press day held on April 12 of this year, the producers announced that a new The Big Band Theory spin-off was in the making, sending the series' huge fandom into a frenzy. The new series will be produced by creator of the original show Chuck Lorre, which certainly makes it a highly anticipated addition to the TBBT franchise.

However, three months later, Lorre continues to work on his upcoming sitcom How to Be a Bookie, and no further details about the TBBT spin-off have been revealed. Remarkably, it looks like even the original show's cast members don't know much about the future project, as the producers are apparently keeping them in the dark about the new show.

When the news about the spin-off was made public, E! News spoke with Mayim Bialik, the actress who played Amy, a Nobel Prize-winning neuroscientist and Sheldon Cooper's wife, in TBBT. Bialik admitted that none of the cast members were informed about Lorre's new show.

'We're all still pretty close, and so there was a lot of texts going on. I asked my agent, he was like, "I don't know," so I guess no one knows at this point, but I can't wait to find out,' the star said.

Bialik also revealed that she learned about the new project from her children, who asked her if she was going to star in the spin-off.

'My kids were like, "Mama, you have to know," and I said, "I really don't!"' she shared.

The actress noted that, given the popularity of TBBT's prequel Young Sheldon and the sheer number of compelling characters in the original show, the potential for spin-off stories is just endless. It's still unclear if Bialik's Amy will be one of the characters in the new series, but the actress said that Warner Bros. and Chuck Lorre should have contacted her first if they were counting on her involvement in the project.

'I think they'd probably have to ask me first before they release a press release, but I don't know,' Bialik commented.

For her part, Mayim Bialik doesn't rule out the possibility of starring in the untitled spin-off, but even if she doesn't land a role, she is quite enthusiastic about watching the new project.
