Fans are still embarrassed by the controversial cameo.

While there's no denying that The Big Bang Theory is one of the most iconic sitcoms of all time, it's important to remember that even the best shows have their issues. And while the show's gags, acting, and over-the-top character development have all been impeccable, fans have a major gripe about how dated some of the storylines feel. Though the show's early seasons often featured some questionable jokes, one moment from Season 9 feels even more controversial in the current political climate.

Yes, we're talking about Elon Musk's infamous cameo in the episode The Platonic Permutation, in which Howard finally met his hero while feeding the homeless at a charity kitchen. And even though Musk looked pretty heroic in that episode, fans still hate to remember that episode.

No longer an icon

In 2015, Musk was on top of the world, his image was still unblemished, and millions of people considered him the best entrepreneur of our time. However, in recent years, Musk has proven to be just another money-hungry billionaire, and his conflicting views on politics and freedom of speech have made him a rather repulsive personality for many people.

That's why people now hate to see him in a TBBT episode, arguing that the billionaire probably paid for a cameo because it made him look much better than he actually was.

'This was pure propaganda to start, and I feel like Elon himself bought himself this spot on the show. They wrote him volunteering at a soup kitchen and made a note he was "demoted for being too generous" and willing to share a leftover snack with Howard. That whole part just felt super forced and self-serving more than anything else. It is well out of character for Musk but also clear they were trying to sell Musk as a kind, giving, generous person,' a fan said.

Others were quick to point out that if Howard had simply been sent to work at SpaceX for a few days and met Musk there, the whole cameo wouldn't have been so cringe-worthy.
