Dustin's Fate In Stranger Things Season 5 Looks Grim Enough to Start Worrying

Netflix's Stranger Things certainly ended its fourth season on a high note, as the kids were able to banish Vecna to the Upside Down but failed to defeat him for good. The series' fans are sure that Vecna will return next season to exact his revenge on Eleven and her friends, haunting their dreams and using their deepest fears against them.

And while most of the main characters are relatively safe, the same can't be said for Dustin, as the Season 4 finale left him in a rather vulnerable position.

As we all know, Vecna feeds on people's deepest and most personal fears and drains their energy. Most of the main characters, including Eleven, have their own fears and heartbreaking moments, but only Dustin can really be hurt by Vecna's powers because his trauma is still fresh.

In Season 4, Dustin and the new kid at school, Eddie Munson, became really close, practically best friends, despite their significant age difference. So when Eddie died in the final episode of the season, Dustin was hurt and could barely keep it together after seeing Eddie die in his arms.

Fans are sure that Vecna will use this traumatic episode against Dustin, making him relive this terrible moment over and over again, until he is either saved by his friends or dies.

And while the second option might seem a bit cruel, some people are sure that the Duffer brothers will definitely kill off one (or some) of the show's main characters in the final season, and Dustin seems like the perfect candidate for an untimely demise.

However, some viewers are against the idea, arguing that Dustin is too beloved by the fandom to be killed off. What's more, since Netflix can build an entire franchise out of Stranger Things, possibly producing sequels at some point in the future, fans would be extremely disappointed if Dustin is not a part of those projects.

Stranger Things Season 5 is expected to begin production this summer, with a possible release date in 2024.
