Don't Expect Harry Potter TV Reboot Releasing Anytime Soon
The boy who lived will return. Someday.
Even though the original Harry Potter movie franchise is still considered one of the best sagas in movie history, fans of the original J.K. Rowling books still have a lot of problems with Warner Bros.' creation, as the writers were often quite negligent while adapting the original storylines. And that's understandable, because it's hard to adapt a huge book into a two-hour movie, so some storylines were shortened, while others were cut completely.
Thankfully, HBO Max decided to try their luck at producing a reboot of the iconic series and announced their plans to adapt Rowling's book into a television show. While some of the fans were initially against Hollywood trying to cash in on the already existing movie franchise, some of the recent developments have even the biggest naysayers eagerly awaiting the show's release.
Following the book
While no casting or production news has yet been released by Max, the producers have already revealed that their show will be much closer to the original book series than the Daniel Radcliffe-led franchise ever was.
Yes, the producers plan to spend much more time exploring Hogwarts and its students, and since the new adaptation will be a streaming show, it's apparent that the writers will have plenty of time to really open up the characters.
The show is still a long way from release
Even though the news that a new Harry Potter series is in development had millions of fans eager to see it as soon as possible, it looks like fans of the wizard saga will have to wait quite a while to see Harry Potter played by a new actor.
Producer David Heyman recently detailed the production process behind the Harry Potter series, and it looks like the show isn't even in pre-production yet, which means that fans shouldn't expect to see Hogwarts until 2025 or even 2026.
'It’s early days. We haven’t even hired a writer to begin writing. It’s a bit early. But hopefully [it will be] something that's very special, and gives us an opportunity to see the books, and to enjoy a series which explores the books more deeply,' Heyman said.
Yeah, that's a bummer, but at least the show will look great, right?
