Don’t judge him, he played one role for twelve years!

Everyone inevitably becomes jaded about things they have been doing for a long time. Actors are no exception, as they too can grow tired of decade-long roles, regardless of the popularity of the projects they've been working on.

This might just be the case for Jim Parsons, who portrayed Sheldon Cooper in the iconic CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory. The show was so popular that it was continuously renewed, eventually spanning twelve seasons.

The three main actors – Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, and Johnny Galecki – were paid a hefty $1 million per episode for the last couple of seasons and received generous cuts of the show's profits. Despite being considered one of the highest-paid people on TV at the time, Parsons decided to leave the show, ultimately forcing it to end.

Interestingly, Jim Parsons' reason for quitting The Big Bang Theory had nothing to do with money, as he was reportedly offered around $40 million for the thirteenth and presumably final season. The actor says he left because of sheer exhaustion from the role, which he felt was depleting his creativity.

Nonetheless, Parsons admitted to enjoying working with all the wonderful people on the set of The Big Bang Theory. In his own words, it was simply time for him to go and meet and work with new people on new projects.

Parsons' immediate choice was not another TV show. Since the last season of The Big Bang Theory, he has acted in only a few projects like Hollywood and The Boys in the Band on Netflix. Instead, he has been busy with numerous behind-the-scenes roles, which he now seems to enjoy much more.

For instance, Parsons is narrating and producing The Big Bang Theory's spin-off focused on his character's childhood – Young Sheldon. Moreover, he is contributing to Mayim Bialik's new TV show Call Me Kat on Fox.

Considering all of this, along with the fact that Jim Parsons left LA as soon as he was done with The Big Bang Theory, it's unlikely that we will see him in more TV shows anytime soon. Nevertheless, the actor continues to lend his voice to his character through his narrations on Young Sheldon, which is going to continue for at least one more season.
