Though American Horror Story was considered the best anthology series on television for most of the last decade, recent times have not been kind to Ryan Murphy's show. The steep decline in quality has not gone unnoticed by fans who have begun to hate a show they once loved. Poor writing, bad direction, and a total lack of substance made the last few seasons of AHS a total chore to watch, and Murphy was well aware of this.

That's why he decided to use all his finesse to make sure that the ongoing season 12 would be the show's best, casting Emma Roberts in the lead role and inviting Kim Kardashian to play a second lead. However, fans began to think that the creator was doing all of this just to secure media attention, not to restore the show's status as the best in the business.

More drama ensues

Roberts plays a young actress on the show, Anna, who is desperate to get pregnant and has no friends except for her publicist, Siobhan, played by Kim. So when Roberts' character vomits in front of a huge audience at an awards show, Siobhan is the one who comforts her. But the way she did it made some fans cringe.

As a publicist, Siobhan immediately went into damage control and revealed to Anna that they should play a Wilde card to salvage the situation. What is a 'Wilde card', you might ask? Well, Murphy didn't shy away from explaining the phrase through Kim's lips, throwing a huge shade at actress and director Olivia Wilde in the process.

'We are going to pull a Wilde card – as in Olivia Wilde. Don’t mention what happened and wait until everyone forgets, slash low-key gaslight people that do ask, and make them think that they’re the problem because, you know...sexism,' Siobhan said on the show.

Yes, it looks like Murphy and the writing teams decided to blatantly allude to Olivia Wilde's controversial time directing Don't Worry Darling, which resulted in a ton of controversy and made Wilde look like a total villain.

A smart move to get some media attention, don't you think?
