Did Queen Charlotte's Spoiler Clip Hint at a Tie-in to Bridgerton Season 3 & Polin?
It looks like the upcoming spin-off will feature a direct link to the third season.
Given the Bridgerton’s immense popularity, it's no wonder that Netflix decided to produce a prequel about young Queen Charlotte right after the show’s second season. And although Queen Charlotte is said to be a separate story in its own right, it's already clear that it will be closely linked to the main series, perhaps even foreshadowing some developments in Season 3.
Recently, fans got to see a spoiler clip from the upcoming spin-off, as the entire scene from what appears to be the final episode of Queen Charlotte was leaked ahead of the show's release.
In the scene, Charlotte can be seen scolding her offspring for their questionable lifestyles, as the young royals seem to be indulging in a little too much drinking and romantic affairs. The Queen tells them that they should begin to live honorably and find suitable wives and husbands, as she wants a clear heir to continue her late husband's legacy.
Fans were quick to believe that one of her male sons will try to fulfill his mother's wishes and will become the biggest suitor of Penelope in the upcoming third season. While everyone knows that Penelope and Colin will be married by the end of the season, no one is against seeing some competition. The idea of a royal heir courting Penelope is certainly exciting to many, and it looks like this leak supports it quite clearly.
'I also love the idea of a prince being interested in her. I don't want a love triangle, but I just love the idea that someone who everyone thinks is so undesirable would catch the eye of a prince,' one fan said.
However, some fans argue that the idea of a royal heir courting an aristocrat is completely ridiculous for the time period, as royals in the Regency era only married other royals, fictional or not. Fans are hoping that Shonda Rhimes and her team will create a compelling storyline in Season 3 without ruining the realism of the show.
Queen Charlotte will arrive on Netflix on May 4, 2023.
