Looks like the showrunner wasn't happy with the way her series ended.

Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was one of the first shows to really make the Amazon Prime subscription worth paying for. After winning a bunch of Emmys with its first season, the comedy-drama show starring Rachel Brosnahan continued on for another four chapters, officially coming to an end on May 26 this year.

Fans of the series seem to have utterly enjoyed its final installment, but creator Amy Sherman-Palladino is apparently unhappy with where Mrs. Maisel's story has ended.

As it turns out, the show's creator is holding a grudge against Amazon for ending the series much sooner than expected. According to Sherman-Palladino, she didn't want to end Mrs. Maisel after Season 5, but the period show was too expensive for the streaming giant to produce, which is why they insisted on finishing it earlier.

Although Mrs. Maisel was a huge hit, it looks like Amazon Prime simply wasted too much money on other shows to continue paying for the project.

'It wasn't me. But things come to an end. I understand. But you know, there's orcs to pay for. There's a lot of orcs running around. They gotta pay the orcs. Maisel was a very expensive show by the end. All those bells and whistles. Doing period shows are very expensive,' Sherman-Palladino explained.

Clearly, the Mrs. Maisel creator decided to shade Amazon Prime's producers for spending so much money on Rings of Power. Although the blockbuster show was coldly received by both viewers and critics, that didn't stop the streaming giant from renewing it for future seasons. As a result, Mrs. Maisel was cut short — even though the show was well received by fans, the viewership numbers were still relatively low.

It's definitely very sad when blockbuster shows ruin the future of smaller projects, but on the other hand, Marvelous Mrs. Maisel had five seasons already, and its concluding chapter has done justice to the series and didn't feel rushed or illogical at all.

Thanks to the show, Rachel Brosnahan has made a name for herself and is now ready to take over Hollywood. Amy Sherman-Palladino is also busy producing her next project with Amazon Prime — a ballet series called Étoile, starring Luke Kirby and Gideon Glick.
