Did Fans Already Figure Out Major Only Murders in the Building S3 Twist?
Looks like the mystery is solved.
Hulu's Only Murders in the Building is undoubtedly one of the best comedy series on air right now, all thanks to the insane chemistry between Martin Short, Steve Martin, and Selena Gomez. And thankfully, the show has not diminished in quality since its stellar debut in 2021, with the current Season 3 often cited as the best yet — which is no surprise, considering that it stars Meryl Streep!
However, it looks like some fans have already been able to crack the third season's mystery well ahead of the protagonists.
Only Murders in the Building Season 3 focuses on the beloved trio of amateur sleuths as they try to figure out who killed famous actor Ben during the opening night of Oliver's new play. With a colorful cast of suspects and excellent comedic performances from Martin and Short, it's not hard to see why the current season is a total blast to watch.
Major plot twist revealed
Since the beginning of the season, viewers have been dying to know more about Streep's Loretta, as the enigmatic actress was surely involved in Ben's murder. And after seeing more of Loretta in action, some fans were pretty sure they had figured out Loretta's true identity — she was Ben's mother, who abandoned him as a child.
'I think the mother he grew up knowing was an adopted one. His brother is his adopted mother's real son. This might be where some of the resentment comes from for Dickie. He was the real son, but it was always about Ben. He was the good-looking one, the famous one, and the one that always got mom's attention,' a fan said.
But is this theory true?
While the fan theory sounds quite believable, some people are sure that such a plot twist is far too simple for a show like Only Murders in the Building. Other fans are pushing the idea that Ben's assistant Dicky is actually Loretta's real son.
'Everyone here saying that Loretta is Ben's mother, but for me the focus is Dickie, she is his mother, and in fact in the photos in the book that Oliver found, he is always there (plus I don't think a mother can have such consideration of her son),' another fan wrote.
Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Episode 6 will premiere on Hulu on September 5, 2023.
