Fans are not happy with the way the second season turned out.

Freeform's teen crime anthology Cruel Summer managed to capture the attention of millions with its first season, but the second installment failed to live up to the heights of the original.

The story of two best friends, Megan and Isabelle, and their dead boyfriend/friend/lover Luke looked promising at first. However, as Season 2 progressed, it gradually turned into a hot mess full of silly plot twists, unanswered questions, and missed opportunities. And it looks like the sheer amount of deleted content is to blame.

While Freeform never actually confirmed that Cruel Summer had any deleted scenes, it's only natural that a show this big would have some material left on the cutting room floor. And the deleted scenes discovered by fans prove one thing — the show was supposed to answer some questions, but the creators forgot about them and cut some storylines mid-production.

'Cutting scenes and even entire storylines is not uncommon at all. Something clearly went wrong behind the scenes, whether that be a time crunch from the network that left the producers unable to fill in the gaps, or genuine incompetence, that left this season feeling so incomplete,' a Redditor pointed out.

Fans note that there were lots of storylines left without necessary development throughout the season. This includes Megan's pregnancy and her mother's illness — those two stories were brought up only to be forgotten moments later, proving that the producers had too much content to deal with and that the editing process was very troubled for some reason.

Throughout the season, the writers dropped a lot of clues for fans to unravel, but in the end, most of them turned out to be meaningless because there were no answers to them, and the central mystery moved forward without regard for the smaller details.

'Why was there freaking blood on the floor? Why did Isabella take the sheets? Why did she tell Megan's mom to ask Megan about them? Did she ask Megan about them?' a furious fan wondered. 'I'm rewatching season one so I can calm down.'

Perhaps that's what we all should do after such a disappointing Season 2 finale.
