Fans are still hounding the actor years after the breakup.

The CW's Riverdale might not be the best teen show the world has ever seen, but this light-hearted adaptation of the original Archie comics certainly boasts a legion of followers. These fans not only watch and re-watch all the episodes but also keep tabs on the cast members' personal lives.

While this insane amount of attention has certainly helped the actors' careers reach new heights, it would appear that Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart are still grappling with the aftereffects of their prolonged fame.

The two actors famously had an on-again-off-again relationship from the show's outset, and fans genuinely adored seeing Cole and Lili together. Legions of fans eagerly anticipated their red-carpet appearances, so when the duo decided to call it quits for good in 2020, quite a few of their fans took it really hard. While many were hopeful that Cole and Lili would rekindle their romance, the revelation of their new relationship sent some of the most ardent Riverdale fans over the edge.

According to Sprouse, even though he's been with Ari Fournier for years, fans persist in sending him cringe letters urging him to reunite with Lili, with some even resorting to death threats to make their demands more compelling.

'I get a lot of stuff sent to my house or my loved ones' houses. Death threats, really nasty, honestly criminal stuff. And I do think it's because at least four of us at this table have dated our coworkers. Is that just a consequence of an incredible love? Or is that what fanaticism looks like? Perhaps because those lines were blurred to our audience, it's hard to break those things up when life moves on,' Sprouse said, commenting on the experience.

It would seem that some individuals definitely struggle to grasp that celebrities' lives don't revolve around fan desires. If two people aren't destined to be together, no barrage of death threats can change that reality.

Fortunately, Cole and Lili appear happy and content with their current partners, and not even the most obsessive fans can ruin their happiness.
