Caitriona Balfe Secures Her Next Project Ahead of Outlander Season 7 Premiere

Before joining Outlander back in 2014, actress Caitríona Balfe was a relative nobody, appearing mostly in supporting roles in movies and TV series. However, this changed the moment viewers saw her play Claire Randall, the central character in Starz's adaptation of Diana Gabaldon's books. Following that, Balfe went on to appear in films like Money Monster, Ford v Ferrari, and Belfast, cementing her status as a talented performer.

And now that there are just two seasons of Outlander left until the end of the series, it looks like Caitríona Balfe is ready for the next big step in her career, signing on to star in the highly anticipated CIA thriller Amateur.

Rami Malek, Rachel Brosnahan, and Laurence Fishburne will also be starring in the movie alongside Balfe. With a star-studded cast like that and Slow Horses director James Hawes at the helm, Amateur looks set to become one of the biggest movies of 2024, and one that can catapult the Outlander actress into true superstar status.

Fans were quick to note that Brosnahan and Balfe will be an exceptionally interesting duo to watch, and not just because of their acting chops. Just like Balfe, Brosnahan has spent most of her career on just one show, Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and since it recently ended, it would be a total blast to watch her in this new big role.

Of course, Caitríona Balfe will still have to wait a year or so before saying goodbye to Outlander, as Season 8 of the show has yet to start filming. But once she's done with the project, she will have more time to pursue other interesting acting roles, probably appearing in a number of blockbuster movies and TV shows in the following few years.

Fans of the actress are now fully focused on the upcoming Season 7 of Outlander, which is being marketed as a true return to form and one of the most compelling chapters in the show's history. The new season is set to premiere on Starz on June 16, 2023.
