Brad Pitt seems to be fixing to make a lot of money.

Tom Cruise has been one of the most bankable actors active in Hollywood for quite some time. However, the success of last year's Top Gun: Maverick catapulted him to a whole new level, making him the world's most popular star and putting him in a league of his own, way ahead of the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, George Clooney, and Brad Pitt.

Like most Hollywood stars, Brad Pitt possesses an oversized ego. Thus, when Tom Cruise left him in the dust in terms of fame and box office revenue, he resorted to some drastic measures. So now, Pitt is poised to take a page out of Tom Cruise's playbook and beat the most famous Scientologist at his own game.

Noting Maverick's success, Pitt is now filming an untitled high-octane project about Formula One, with Top Gun director Joseph Kosinski at the helm. Information about the new film is scarce, but seeing how one of Hollywood's hottest directors is now collaborating with Pitt, it can only mean one thing: Pitt is intent on doing a copycat of Tom Cruise's $1 billion box office formula, and getting Kosinski to direct his new movie is not the only thing he's lifted from his colleague.

The more is revealed about the new project, the more it looks like Brad Pitt is dead-set on channelling Tom Cruise in every way possible: it's just been revealed the new film is making heavy use of practical effects with Brad Pitt doing all of his stunts himself, including driving F1 vehicles at insane speed on real race tracks to make sure everything looks as real as possible, exactly like Cruise did with flying the planes in Maverick.

'You've never seen speed; you've never seen the G-forces like this. The footage is really, really exciting. I wasn't nervous when I was out on the track today. The guys really prepared me well. This should be as authentic as we can get it,' Pitt said.

So make time in your calendar next year, as it would appear Pitt is ready to reclaim the title of Hollywood's top leading man from Tom Cruise, and he seems to have all the right ingredients to pull it off: a high-octane action movie helmed by today’s best action movie director. But then again, Tom Cruise just might go into space to film his upcoming movie with Doug Liman, which would be hard to beat.
