Fans are shocked by the latest celebrity coupling.

It's no secret that Korean pop stars are some of the most popular artists in the world. K-pop is currently at an all-time high, with millions of people around the world passionately following bands such as BLACKPINK and BTS. However, becoming a pop idol is not as straightforward as it may seem, as producers often control every aspect of their life to avoid upsetting the fans.

Oddly enough, many K-pop singers hide their relationships from their fans for fear of backlash, and Lisa's recent dating rumour certainly proves this unfortunate notion.

Recently, BLACKPINK's Lisa became the subject of significant controversy in Korea as numerous media outlets reported that the star was allegedly dating Frédéric Arnault, the son of Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, and currently the richest person in the world. Reports suggest that the two have been seeing each other for quite some time.

However, instead of congratulating the singer on her new relationship and the chance to join the family of the world's wealthiest man, her fans lashed out at her in anger, accusing her of tarnishing Korea's public image by dating a foreigner.

‘I don't really know or care if they're dating (he's liked comments denying it, like last week but who knows) but the insane amount of overtly racist hate comments she's gotten from the Korean general public about this and articles talking about the uncertainty of her re-signing at YG are horrific,’ a fan commented in shock.

Many K-pop fans have labelled the apparent romance between the two as problematic, arguing that K-pop idols shouldn't date publicly because it ruins their image as pure role models. This idea is patently absurd, as even the biggest stars in the world have the right to date whomever they want, whenever they want, and Lisa should be left in peace.

‘Why is it problematic? Are the labels and the fans so deranged they can’t possibly cope with this news? What a sad environment,’ another fan noted in apparent bewilderment.
