Biggest Reason Ginny & Georgia is So Relatable Despite All the Cringe
People are willing to forgive the show for its cringe-worthy moments.
Netflix's Ginny & Georgia suddenly became one of the most popular melodramas on the streaming service earlier this year, with the second season of the teen drama exceeding even the most positive analyst predictions. While the first season made viewers fall in love with Georgie and her troubled teenage daughter Ginny, Season 2 deepened the connection between them while developing both as compelling characters in their own right.
However, one thing that has fans buzzing about the third season is the sheer amount of cringeworthy moments that Ginny and Georgia share in every single episode.
Remember the scene where Ginny walks up to Marcus and his girlfriend Padma at school just to say hello and walk away? It was hard for many fans to keep their eyes open during that scene because the cringe was unbearable. And scenes like that populate every single episode of the show, forcing casual viewers to wonder why die-hard fans of Ginny & Georgia not only watch the show, but call it relatable.
Let's get one thing straight — do you remember yourself in your teens? Doing crazy stuff for your crush is a completely normal thing for pretty much all teenagers around the world, and it's natural for Ginny as well. That's why a lot of people find the show relatable in the amount of cringe it features.
'I was so cringey in high school this makes me feel better,' one fan joked.
Also, Ginny is a perfect character, as teenagers rarely listen to their parents' advice and think that climbing into the windows of their crushes (yes, Marcus, we are looking at you) is a perfectly wise thing to do. And don't forget that the show isn't just about Ginny, and Georgia's life is a little less cringey than her daughter's.
'This reminds me of my teenage years. When it's all hormones, trying to be independent and nothing just works out in your favor lol,' another fan wrote. 'I watch this because of Georgia. She is a brilliant actress and I keep wanting to see more of her life.'
Brianne Howey is indeed a wonderful actress, and the role of Georgia is her most prominent so far. Prior to the Netflix series, she appeared in 10 episodes of Fox's The Exorcist and The Passage.
