The iconic British singer began his rise to the top in a fairly low-paying job.

It's hard to believe that the fashion icon, stadium crowd-pleaser, and prolific actor was once just a regular person, but Harry Styles defies all expectations.

He is undoubtedly the most successful One Direction member, seeing how his solo career has boomed since the boy band went on an indefinite hiatus in 2016. However, he had very humble beginnings, joining The X Factor as a complete nobody, just like Zayn Malik or Niall Horan.

In 2010 he was just 16, so when he appeared in the singing competition, many fans concluded that he had been doing nothing but training to become a superstar up to that point. That assumption was completely wrong, though. In fact, unlike his fellow contestants, Styles actually held down a real job before becoming a full-time performer.

In the documentary One Direction: This Is Us, Styles revealed that he worked every Saturday at a bakery in his hometown of Holmes Chapel in Cheshire before joining the reality singing competition.

Harry made just $7 an hour handing out pastries to his neighbours, which is definitely a far cry from the amounts he makes today. With Harry's net worth estimated at $120 million, he wouldn't have made even a fraction of his current fortune if he had stayed at that bakery.

Fans are very happy Styles got to experience ordinary life, arguing that not being born with a silver spoon helped his career and made him the universally beloved celebrity he is today.

People are sure Styles still remembers his days working at the bakery and wonders how far life has taken him.

People are already joking that if Hollywood ever decides to make a biopic about Styles and his career, the bakery storyline would be a blast. Some fans are even wondering about the bakery's name, as it could easily become a real tourist attraction for Holmes Chapel.
