Batman Knightfall Writer Says Robin Is Poised to Steal the Show in an Upcoming DC Movie

The Boy Wonder’s identity is no longer a mystery: Batman: Knightfall screenwriter Jeremy Adams has confirmed which Robin will suit up in the multi-part animated adaptation unveiled by Warner Bros. Animation at New York Comic Con.
If you were bracing for Batman: Knightfall to ditch Tim Drake for Damian Wayne, breathe easy. The movie is keeping it era-accurate.
So, which Robin are we getting?
Screenwriter Jeremy Adams jumped on Instagram to say he’s writing Part 1 of the animated Knightfall adaptation and to gush a bit about it. When a fan asked if the film would swap Tim Drake for Damian Wayne, Adams answered in the comments with the clarity fans wanted:
"No bro. It’s old school Tim. He’s so good in it."
The exchange was quickly making the rounds on X, but the point is simple: the Knightfall Robin in this Knightfall movie is Tim Drake. As it should be.
What is this Knightfall project exactly?
Warner Bros. Animation announced a multi-part animated adaptation of the classic Batman arc at New York Comic Con. Adams is scripting Part 1, titled Knightfall, with DC animation veteran Jeff Wamester directing. It’s already in production and targeting a 2026 release via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.
It also marks the first DC Universe Animated Original Movie after the two-part Watchmen project that landed in late 2024, so this is essentially the next big swing for that line.
The official setup
"When the mysterious behemoth known only as Bane frees Batman's entire Rogue's Gallery from Arkham Asylum, the Caped Crusader is pushed to his mental and physical breaking point."
A quick Tim Drake refresher
Tim Drake was created by Marv Wolfman and Pat Broderick and first appeared in Batman #436 as the third Robin. He isn’t as mainstream-famous as Dick Grayson, but he’s been around the block across animation and live-action:
- Animated: Tim showed up across the DC Animated Universe era, voiced by Mathew Valencia, Eli Marienthal, and Dean Stockwell.
- Live-action: His only live-action take so far is Titans, where Jay Lycurgo played him.
What we still don’t know
Casting hasn’t been announced yet. Beyond that, the essentials are locked: Part 1 is called Knightfall, it’s in motion, and it’s coming in 2026. Adams is clearly enthusiastic about the adaptation, and confirming Tim Drake as Robin means the movie is sticking to the bones of the comic. Good call.
